Using money wisely and building wealth

The effect of ObamaCare from an economists view…

ObamaCare TaxI could go on and on all day long on how the “Patient Protection and Affordability Act” is perhaps a far reaching government attack to control every aspect of our “free” lives. However, I will not (at least not today). I only want to expound on one point of ObamaCare. The point I want to address today is the expansion of eligibility under the GOVERNMENT FUNDED healthcare…Medicaid and how this will affect ALL Americans.

First of all what is Medicaid? Don’t confuse Medicaid with Medicare. Medicare is for the elderly and Medicaid is a form of social service to provide healthcare to the low income population. So let’s get this straight, Medicaid is what is called an entitlement. Those who pay taxes pay for the entitlements to those who don’t pay taxes.

From an economist’s point of view, here is what happens with the expansion of an entitlement such as Medicaid…

Increased National Debt…
More people will be eligible for Medicaid…who pays for Medicaid? The Government (who is already broke)
Higher Taxes…
The Supreme Court itself said that ObamaCare is a tax and that is why they upheld its legality. The increase of taxes including the penalty for not buying government regulated insurance, stricter medical deductions, and limits on flexible savings accounts (FSA’s)
Higher Insurance Premiums…
Insurance companies will be required to pay for more services. Insurance companies are in the business to make money. How do they make money? They charge premiums to offset their expenses…You do the math.
Decreased Quality of Healthcare…
Have you been to the emergency room lately? Overcrowded and long waits…It’s only going to get worse. ObamaCare has now placed more people waiting in the already over packed waiting rooms. So what happens then…the BIG Hospitals start building even BIGGER. Can you guess what happens to quality of care? Oh, and your doctor just retired…So you’ve been going to your family doctor for a while now. He knows your name, how old your kids are, he knows you pay your bill and everything is good right? WRONG! Now you won’t be able to get an appointment with him because there is a huge influx of patients he is required to see that are covered by Medicaid. He gets fed up with the extra government paperwork and the reduction of actual paying customers. So he retires early leaving the vacancy for some young kid who has gone to medical school on government loans and grew up in the world where quantity is valued over quality.
Lost Jobs…
Sam Smith and his wife Sally own a restaurant (a family owned business passed down from his father, excellent fried zucchini I might add) in which he and his wife works 60+ hours each a week at. They are barely making a profit each year so Sam and his wife can get a mere $65,000 collective salary. They have 50 happy employees….until….ObamaCare. Now the Smith’s have to spend approximately $50,000 in ObamaCare expenses. What do you think the Smith’s are going to do, cut their own salary? NO, they are going to fire 2 employees because they simply can’t afford to pay them.
Antibiotic Resistant Super Viruses Run Rampant…
Ok this is a stretch but hear me out. 30 Million people who don’t have insurance today will have “affordable” (aka, free to you on the taxpayers tab) health care provided for them under the ObamaCare. These people now instead of taking some over the counter cold medicine will visit the doctor and get an antibiotic for the common cold. Antibiotic overuse will continue and viruses will become more and more resistant and not useful when we really need them.

The profile of the ObamaCare beneficiary doesn’t hold a job, has several children (why stop when your “check” gets bigger with each kid), “invests” in the lottery and needs a doctor to certify his disability so that his “check” will get bigger.

So why is everyone so upset over government controlled healthcare, I mean isn’t the government doing such a good job at everything else they control?
